How long will San Diego Padres’ Tucupita Marcano be suspended for betting on baseball?
Marcano is in the eye of the storm after information emerged that he has been involved in gambling on baseball games.
According to reports coming from The Wall Street Journal, baseball player Tucupita Marcano, who played for the San Diego Padres, has been banned for life from MLB. This comes after the Venezuelan player allegedly bet on baseball games.
Which team did Marcano bet on?
The league is investigating the 24-year-old player following revelations that he allegedly bet on games involving the Pittsburgh Pirates, his former team, last season while he was on the injured list.
“We are aware of an active investigation by Major League Baseball regarding a matter that occurred when the player in question was a member of another organization and not affiliated with the San Diego Padres. We will have no further comments until the investigation process has concluded,” the San Diego Padres stated.
Brian Warecki, Senior Vice President of Communications for the Pirates also made a brief statement.
“We are aware of the matter under investigation and are fully cooperating. We will refrain from making further comments at this time.”
The Padres claimed Marcano off waivers last November, but he has not played a full game since his return in this second stint with the team. Previously, he appeared in 25 games for the Padres in 2021 before moving to the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in July of last year.
