A year ago, the LA Dodgers made a splash in free agency by announcing Shohei Ohtani as their newest player. Now, Dave Roberts' team has made another significant move.

Blake Snell, a two-time Cy Young Award winner who pitched a no-hitter in 2024, is joining the Dodgers' rotation for the upcoming Major League Baseball season, as the Los Angeles team aims to defend its title.

Blake Snell’s Dodgers contract

According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, Snell and the Dodgers have agreed to a five-year, $182 million contract, securing the deal he couldn’t obtain in last year’s free agency when he signed with the San Francisco Giants.

Reports are that Snell will receive a signing bonus of $52 million.

Snell achieves his goal

Despite Snell’s modest stats last season, he managed to finish with five wins and three losses, along with a 3.12 ERA over 20 regular-season games in a San Francisco Giants uniform.

Snell bounced back from a disrupted spring training and a couple of early stints on the injured list to post the fourth-best ERA of his career.

With this move, Snell joins a pitching rotation that features Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and potentially Shohei Ohtani, who is expected to resume pitching by 2025. Meanwhile, Jake Flaherty and Walker Buehler remain free agents.
