Is Fernando Tatís Jr. getting closer to returning to play with the San Diego Padres?
The right fielder from the Dominican Republic joined the Padres for batting practice and displayed improvement after recovering from his recent injury.
Dominican baseball player Fernando Tatís Jr. is getting closer to returning to the diamond with the San Diego Padres after being out for two months due to an injury to his right femur.
Fernando Tatís Jr. would return in September
The return of the ‘friars’ to the team could be decided in September after he has made great progress in his recovery.
The last time the ‘Kid’ was in the lineup was June 21st; just recently, he took part in batting practice with the Padres and displayed signs of improvement.
“It felt great to be out there with the guys, improving. Every day, one step further”, the player said.
“I don’t really have a specific date. I feel like it’s more of a conversation between the training staff, the manager, and A.J. (general manager). But I’ll definitely be playing baseball next month. That’s what it looks like,” Tatís Jr. said.
Despite being away from the action, Fernando Tatís Jr. maintains an offensive line of .279/.354/.468 with 14 home runs, 14 doubles, a triple, 36 RBIs, and 8 stolen bases.
