Veteran midfielder Justin Turner just finalized his contract with the Boston Red Sox this afternoon.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the two-year contract is worth a $21,700,000 guarantee that comes with an average annual value of $10,850,000. The deal also includes up to $1 million in incentives that would max out if and when he reaches 560 plate appearances.

The 38-year-old will have the opportunity to opt-out following the 2023 campaign.

Turner spent nine seasons in Southern California after his first few years with the Orioles and Mets. After the Los Angeles Dodgers declined their $16 million option on him, the two-time All-Star entered free agency.

Turner was named MVP of the 2017 National League Championship Series, earned All-Star honors in 2017 and 2021, and helped lead the Dodgers to victory in the 2020 World Series.

He will now be replacing J.D. Martinez, who landed in Los Angeles on a one-year free-agent deal.

The 38-year-old took to Twitter tonight to announce the news and thank the Dodgers organization after officially signing with Boston.
