Lucky kid pulls one-of-a-kind baseball card
An autographed Topps patch card of National League Rookie of the Year Paul Skenes could be worth a fortune for the holder.

A one-of-kind baseball card has been pulled by an 11-year-old collector in Los Angeles and could net the owner a massive prize if they decide to part with it.
The card features Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes, the National League Rookie of the Year. Not only is it a rookie card for a player with a big future in the MLB, but it’s a one-of-one autographed patch card, meaning that it contains Skenes' signature and a piece of a game-worn jersey.

Skenes was the No. 1 overall pick at the 2023 MLB Draft and he went on to have a stellar debut season in the league. Not only was he selected to the All-Star Game, he was named starting pitcher for the National League team after making only 11 starts in MLB.
Back in November Topps announced that they were releasing the unique Skenes card in the next batch of 2024 Topps Chrome Update packs. In response, the Pirates made an incredible offer to the lucky collector who pulled the card.
How much is the Paul Skenes rookie card worth?
As a one-of-one it’s difficult to put a price on a rookie card for Skenes, who is widely expected to be a star of the next decade. But that’s exactly what the Pittsburgh Pirates attempted to do when they made an incredible offer to whoever finds the card. Here’s what they are currently offering in return for bringing the card ‘home’...
To the lucky person who finds this card… We’d love to bring this card home to PNC Park to share with all Buccos fans.

Now that the card has been found the Pirates acted swiftly to reiterate that they are willing to honour that offer if the owner wants to accept. Skenes' girlfriend, LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne, has even added a seat in her matchday suite to the incredible Pirates offer. It’s a very generous package, but the value of the card in question will only increase as the years go by.
