MLB 2025: the world against the Dodgers
The Dodgers are once again the favourites to win the Major League Baseball World Series, but other teams are looking to dethrone them.

After kicking off the Major League Baseball season with the Tokyo Series, one thing is clear: the Dodgers have the best roster, and they know it. But is that enough to secure a second championship? Winning back-to-back titles is a feat few franchises can boast about.
The challenge for the rest of the league will be to prevent the Dodgers from becoming a dynasty. The New York Mets have added the most sought-after free agent of the offseason, Dominican star Juan Soto. Will that be enough to take the National League championship away from Los Angeles?
The Atlanta Braves are also a formidable threat in the National League. With Ronald Acuña’s return, they are well-positioned as contenders, especially after retaining ace Chris Sale. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Phillies have their sights set high with the addition of Jesús Luzardo to bolster their starting rotation.
Yankees are back in the hunt
In the American League, the Yankees are back in the game, and this time, they’re determined to win it all. While losing Gerrit Cole is a tough blow, they strengthened their rotation with Max Fried. Additionally, they brought in Cody Bellinger and Paul Goldschmidt to fill the gap left by Juan Soto. However, for the Yankees to seriously contend, they’ll need the best version of Aaron Judge.
The Baltimore Orioles are once again poised to contend, but until they can win playoff games, they remain hopeful contenders. The main issue is their rotation. With the departure of Corbin Burnes, the pitching staff now relies on Zach Eflin, Charlie Morton, and Grayson Rodriguez to carry the load.
We also can’t count out teams like the Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox. The Rangers, who won the World Series two years ago, still need more firepower at the plate. Meanwhile, the Red Sox have bolstered their rotation with the additions of Walker Buehler and Garrett Crochet, while also bringing in Alex Bregman to strengthen their lineup.
The Houston Astros will remain a threat as long as they stay healthy. The key question for them is the rotation: Can Framber Valdez find consistency with his pitches? If he can, the Astros will have a potent 1-2 punch with Valdez and Hunter Brown.
