Last night saw the Major League Baseball post season get underway in thrilling style and we’re making sure you’re all set to follow the action for the second game day, as well as getting you up to speed, if you need it, with some of the info surrounding the playoff format.

How to watch the 2022 MLB Playoffs of October 8th?

Given that it’s the post season, you’ve got plenty of options when it comes to watching. If you’d like to watch on TV then you can find MLB’s playoffs on ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, Fox and FS1 (specific game details below). Of course, if you’d like to stream the games, then you’ll need to head over to fuboTV where you can get a free trial.

What to know about the 2022 MLB playoffs?

In case you haven’t been following, this year will see an expansion to the playoffs for the first time. Instead of 10 teams, we’ve now got 12, with the Atlanta Braves being the last through the door, after clinching the NL East on Tuesday night. We have also seen the allocation of the wild-card seeding and with that the Wild Card Series were announced on Wednesday.

It’s important to note that the 2022 MLB postseason will be going all the way into November, after the owner-imposed lockout resulted in a significant delay to the start of the season. To be clear, Game 4 of the World Series is scheduled for Tuesday, November 1st, which is to say that’s the earliest day in which the championship could be decided.

Should we go to seven games, that will take us all the way to Saturday, November 5th. In case you’re wondering, that would be the latest that a World Series game has ever been played in MLB history. Aside from that, here are a few tidbits that you should know:

  • The best-of-three Wild Card Series will be played on three consecutive days. There are no off-days during the series
  • There are no off days between Games 4 and 5 of the LDS, or between Games 5 and 6 of the LCS.
  • The World Series follows the usual 2-3-2 format with off-days between Games 2 and 3, and Games 5 and 6.
