MLB TV strikes out on Opening Day with thousands of outages
Major League Baseball Opening Day kicked off just hours ago, but thousands were deprived of seeing the games as MLB.TV went down at the worst possible time.

Major League Baseball’s biggest day of the year is today, Opening Day! Unfortunately, thousands were deprived the opportunity to watch the games as MLB.TV, the league’s streaming service, experienced major outages just as the season kicked off.
MLB.TV down for thousands on Opening Day
As the season got going, fans waiting to see their teams’ first pitch were met instead with a “Network Error” message on MLB.TV. By 4:03 p.m. ET, there were more than 21,000 user complaints about the streaming service on Downdetector.com.
About 40 minutes later, the number of complaints dropped to about 2,000 and it now appears that MLB.TV has solved the issue. But fans paying for that service were not happy at all.
MLB TV not working during literally their most important day of the year is so classic MLB.

Charging $150/year and then not providing a working product/service is quite the racket!! pic.twitter.com/EyT5TlhP4T

One user also pointed out that MLB.TV didn’t even offer a message on social media to let users know if they were aware of the problem and working on it - no apology either.
MLB.TV debuted in 2000 and offers access to every out-of-market MLB game live or on demand as well as the ability to stream MLB Network within the United States. For U.S. users, the service costs $149.99 per season or $29.99 per month.
