Update:

The 2025 MLB World Series reached a thrilling conclusion on Saturday night, as the Los Angeles Dodgers secured a dramatic 11th innings victory in Game 7.

The Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays had played out a fascinating series, ending with a first repeat champion in 25 years. The series captured the attention of sports fans and the preliminary viewership data shows that Saturday’s Game 7 drew an average of 25.98 million viewers in the United States.

This represents the biggest audience for a World Series game since the Houston Astros beat the Dodgers back in 2017. It also beats the 16.4 million viewers for Game 7 of the NBA Finals earlier this year.

The historical nature of the 2025 MLB series almost certainly helped to push up the audience for this year’s games. The Dodgers were looking to make history with back-to-back titles, while the Blue Jays were hoping to become the first non-American team in 30 years to win the World Series.

In the coming days more information will be released regarding the international audience figures, which should bring in a significant number of viewers from Canada. The exciting Game 7 finale made the 2025 series one of the most-watched World Series of recent years and leaves the Dodgers with a third championship in just six seasons.

“To do what we’ve done in this span of time is pretty remarkable,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after the win. “I guess I’ll let the pundits and all the fans talk about if it’s a dynasty or not, but I’m pretty happy with where we’re at.”
