While the NLCS has a day off tonight, we’ve got Game 2 of the ALCS between the Houston Astros and New York Yankees
Four teams are remaining in the 2022 MLB playoffs, and Game 2 of the American League Championship unfolds on Thursday night when the New York Yankees play the Houston Astros.
The Astros are coming off a 4-2 home victory, fueled by 11 strikeouts from ace Justin Verlander. The Yankees, on the other hand, are seeking a split in Houston to avoid coming home 0-2 in the series after its series against Cleveland ended Tuesday. New York will do everything possible to try to steal a victory before going to the Bronx for Games 3, 4 and 5, if needed.
The first pitch at Minute Maid Park in Houston is set to kick off at 7:37 pm ET.

Who are the starting pitchers in Game 2 of the ALCS?
Two pitchers from the Dominican Republic will start the game: left-hander Framber Valdez for the Astros and right-hander Luis Severino for the Yankees.
Severino will make his second appearance of the 2022 postseason tonight, as he continues to seek his first postseason win vs. Houston. The 28-year-old produced two quality starts against the Astros earlier in June, holding their lineup to a .186 batting average while allowing five runs over 12 innings, despite two losses.
Houston’s Valdez on the other hand allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings in Game 2 of the ALDS vs. the Mariners. He walked three and struck out six in the team’s eventual 4-2 victory. As a lefty, Valdez will be facing a heavily right-handed lineup, which may be a plus for the Yankees.

When and how to watch the Yankees vs Houston Game 2 ?

Injuries
Yankees’ Aaron Hicks had an early end to his season after he sustained a left knee injury and ran into Cabrera in an attempt to catch a popup in Game 5. His recovery is expected to last around six weeks.
Outfielder Andrew Benintendi is also out with wrist discomfort, infielder DJ LeMahieu with a foot ligament, and Ron Marinaccio (stress reaction in right shin). All three are not placed on the ALCS roster, but are traveling with the club.
Houston continues to look healthy, with only two players out: outfielder Michael Brantley (shoulder surgery) and catcher Jason Castro (knee surgery), who were both ruled out for the season in June.
