Tarik Skubal: Detroit Tiger’s pitcher is the best in the MLB according to Aaron Judge
The six-time Major League Baseball All-Star has faced many arms in his time in the game, and has chosen the current best.
Aaron Judge is one of the leading faces of MLB today, showcasing his offensive prowess every time he steps up to the plate. And the New York Yankees’ captain recently revealed who he believes is the best pitcher in Major League Baseball at the moment.
“He’s the best pitcher in the game right now,” Judge said of Tarik Skubal. “When he returned late last season, he was on a different pace, at a different level. It’s not fun to face a guy like that, but it is fun to compete against the best.”
Skubal gets Judge approval
Detroit Tigers’ Skubal holds a record of 18-4 with a 2.39 ERA, 228 strikeouts, and 35 walks in 155.1 innings of work so far this season, making him statistically the best starting pitcher in the American League.
While Judge ranks Skubal as the best in the game right now, it’s worth noting that he is also the current holder of the pitching Triple Crown and is the favourite to win the Cy Young Award this season.
Detroit beat the AL West champions the Houston Astros 0-2 in the 2024 Wild Card Series and are currently 1-0 down to Cleveland in the ALDS best-of-five-games playoffs. The two teams will be back out on Progressive Field for Game 2 on Monday 7 October before the series moves to Comerica Park.
