One notable signing was Shohei Ohtani, who joined on a 10-year, $700 million contract after his tenure with the Los Angeles Angels ended in December 2023. This amount is deferred, with Ohtani receiving $2 million annually during the contract’s first ten years and $68 million each year from 2034 to 2043
