The 2025 MLB playoffs have kicked off in dramatic fashion, but all eyes are on the Division Series clash between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays, where the Bronx Bombers have been stunned by a relentless offensive onslaught in the opening two games.

A record-breaking collapse for New York

For the first time in franchise history, the Yankees have allowed 23 runs across the first two games of a postseason series. In the opener at Rogers Centre, the so-called “Mules of Manhattan” were routed 10–1, led by a standout performance from Mexican catcher Alejandro Kirk, who blasted two home runs.

The second game brought no relief for New York. Despite showing flashes of life at the plate, the Yankees fell 13–7, sealing a painful statistic that underscores just how overwhelmed their pitching has been.

Toronto eyes its first ALCS since 2016

The Blue Jays will head to Yankee Stadium brimming with confidence as they look to complete a sweep and secure their first American League Championship Series berth in nearly a decade. For New York, it’s win or go home – and they’ll need something extraordinary to avoid an early October exit.
