Trevor Bauer, who won the CY Young Award for the National League during 2020 MLB season, has announced on social media that he will be pitching in six games for the Diablos Rojos del Mexico, including an exhibition game against the New York Yankees.

After being accused of sexual assault by three women between 2021 and 2023, the 33-year-old was handed a lengthy suspension by the league and released by the Los Angeles Dodgers, eventually agreeing to join the Yokohama DeNA BayStars in Japan for the 2023 season.

However, he now claims to be hopeful of return to MLB and is looking to use his stint with the Diablos Rojos to stay in shape in case a Major League team decides to take a chance on him.

When will Bauer pitch for the Diablos Rojos against the Yankees?

“I’ll be pitching against the Yankees on March 24 as a member of the Diablos Rojos del Mexico. I’ve also agreed to pitch 5 games for the Diablos between April 11 and May 8 in lieu of a traditional spring training period as it’s the best way for me to stay ready to pitch. This will help me stay in game shape and I’ll be able to join a rotation immediately if or when an MLB offer comes. Hope to see you on Sunday and can’t wait to show y’all what Mexican baseball is all about!” Bauer posted on Twitter/X on Monday.

As well as Bauer, the Diablos Rojos also recently announced the signing of Robinson Canó, another former MLB player who made history with the Yankees. However, the pitcher’s words suggest he is holding out for a return to Major League Baseball rather than a longer spell with the Mexican team.

Trevor Bauer’s 2023 and all-time numbers

Bauer played for the Yokohama DeNA BayStars in the Japanese league for just one year.

In 2023, he made 24 starts with an ERA of 2.59, recording 11 wins and only 4 losses across the season.

Bauer has a lifetime ERA of 3.79 in the Major Leagues, with 1,416 strikeouts over a 10-year career, which has also seen him turn out for the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Cleveland Guardians and the Cincinnati Reds, as well as the Dodgers and the Bay Stars.
