What do Ohtani’s Dodgers teammates think about his betting scandal?
Those around the Los Angeles baseball franchise, the players, and the organization supported Shohei Ohtani at all times and will continue doing so.
The Shohei Ohtani case is close to being resolved, with authorities ruling in favor of the Japanese baseball player. The case involved a betting scandal in which Ohtani’s former interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara, was implicated. The MLB verdict is still pending.
Federal Prosecutor Martin Estrada revealed that Mizuhara transferred over $16 million from Shohei Ohtani’s bank accounts, allegedly lied to the bank to steal the money, and posed as Ohtani to convince them to approve the bank transfers.
According to the charges, Mizuhara allegedly placed around 19,000 bets between December 2021 and January 2024. Despite this accusation, Ohtani’s Los Angeles Dodgers teammates stood by him, and starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow even revealed that he never doubted Ohtani’s innocence.
“We all supported Ohtani from the beginning. We knew it was a comprehensive staff and suspected that Ippei was doing strange things. We never saw him worried about the situation. Fortunately, now he will be able to focus on what really matters,” Glasnow said for Chris Rose Sports.
