Major League Baseball is finally back and we’ve got the full schedule for you. Join us for a look at schedule and dates for the season and playoffs!

When does the 2022 MLB Season start and end?

With the owner-implemented lockout that lasted almost 100 days finally over Major League Baseball can finally get underway. The season, however, has understandably been condensed into a tighter schedule, which means more baseball in less time. For starters Opening Day - originally slated for March 31 - will now occur on April 7 with the first full slate of 15 games taking place on April 9. What that in turn means, is that all games which were originally scheduled for March 31 through to April 6 will now have to be added into the format at a later date.

As one can imagine it would have been quite a task to place the full 2,430 games into the regular-season calendar, to that end the league has placed 31 doubleheaders into the schedule. In addition, MLB recently announced that the final day of the regular season will now occur on Wednesday, October 5th. Below you can see the updated schedule for the games that will take place on the season’s final day:

Cubs at Reds

Royals at Guardians

Nationals at Mets

Cardinals at Pirates

Rays at Red Sox

Blue Jays at Orioles

Braves at Marlins

Phillies at Astros

Twins at White Sox

Yankees at Rangers

Diamondbacks at Brewers

Rockies at Dodgers

Angels at Athletics

Tigers at Mariners

Giants at Padres

What about the MLB Playoffs?

While games times for the season and playoffs have not been announced, it is expected that they will follow the format of recent years especially where the final day of the season is concerned, which is to say all games will start at the same time. Regarding the expanded 12-team postseason, it can be expected to start shortly after October 5th which is the season’s last day. With that in mind, it is all but assured that the playoffs themselves will stretch throughout the month of October.
