The long wait for Yankees’ fans continues after coming close in 2024. While it will take a while for New York fans to get over this disappointment, baseball fans all over are celebrating.

It has been 16 years since the Yankees last won the World Series, which came in 2009 when they defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in six games, earning their 27th title in franchise history. The MVP of that series was pitcher Hideki Matsui.
