Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has announced that one of the best pitchers in Major League Baseball, right-handed pitcher Walker Buehler, is set to return to the team. Buehler has been out of the game since June 10, 2022, when he last played against the San Francisco Giants.

Walker Buehler ready to return

Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts has confirmed that if Walker Buehler has a good start on Thursday with the Minor League affiliate, he could join the rotation next week. The right-handed pitcher underwent surgery on his elbow in 2021, and despite having a good preseason, the Dodgers did not want to rush his return this year to avoid any potential relapse.

Unfortunately, Buehler had to leave the game early last Friday after getting hit by a ball on his right hand. He was replaced as a precaution, but the injury wasn’t serious. He will return to the mound on Thursday with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes as they face the Inland Empire 66ers.

If Walker Buehler can throw 90 pitches, he will be ready to join the first team and become part of the pitching rotation next week. This is excellent news for the Dodgers since they are dealing with injuries to starting pitchers Bobby Miller and Emmet Sheehan. Moreover, his return would provide more rest to the bullpen, which has been heavily utilized recently.
