Will Los Angeles Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw play in the 2024 World Series?
One of the big losses for the Dodgers has been pitcher Clayton Kershaw. Will he be at the World Series?
On August 30, Clayton Kershaw suffered a left big toe injury that sidelined him for the rest of the season, including the playoffs and the upcoming World Series, which begins this Friday in Los Angeles. Injuries continue to plague the left-handed pitcher, who hopes to return to the mound next year when the Dodgers start a new Major League season.
Earlier in October, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts ended speculation about Kershaw’s potential return, confirming that the pitcher would not play again this year.
'His foot is actually worsening rather than improving'
“We’ve completely closed the door. His foot is actually worsening rather than improving. He’s still working, but he won’t pitch anymore this season,” Roberts said before the Championship Series.
Shortly afterward, Kershaw expressed his frustration with the injury but remained optimistic about his recovery. He is confident he will be back at his best by spring training, which starts in March of next year.
“Obviously, I had bad luck with my foot this year, but I want to make the most of this surgery,” Kershaw told FOX Sports. “I don’t want to have surgery just to stop playing. I’ll come back next year, give it a shot, and see how I do.”
