The Bronx Bombers claimed a 4-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. Alongside Wells, Anthony Volpe also went deep with a solo shot. Aaron Judge added a double that allowed Ben Rice to score, and Oswaldo Cabrera brought in the fourth run on a sacrifice fly by Cody Bellinger.
For the Brewers, Vinny Capra cut the deficit with a solo home run, and Joey Ortiz scored on a sacrifice fly by Brice Turang.
On the mound, Carlos Rodón delivered a solid outing, giving up just one run on four hits across 5 2/3 innings. The Yankees opened their 2025 campaign in strong fashion as they look to defend their American League crown.
The two teams face off again in the second game of the series on Saturday, March 29, at Yankee Stadium.
