2024 NBA Finals: Are Kyrie Irving & Luka Doncic’s dads friends?

It was a case of ‘like son like father’ following Friday night’s Game 4 in the NBA Finals. With both sons putting on a show, their dads had a moment.

Following what was a sensational performance by the Dallas Mavericks in Game 4, the team now has a fighting chance in the NBA Finals. That said, no team has ever overturned a 3-0 deficit which is probably why the fathers of the team’s two biggest stars enjoyed a light moment while they still can.

The fathers of Luka Doncic & Kyrie Irving had a moment

If you caught Friday night’s game between the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics, then you saw the statement that Dallas made to clinch their first win in the series, taking the score to 3-1. What we also saw was an effort by the team’s two stars, Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving, which is a testament to the close bond that they’ve developed off of the court. Indeed, with a combined total of 50 points, it’s clear that the pair understand each other very well now as they led the Mavs to a 122-84 win.

Yet, perhaps even better was the moment we witnessed when it was all over at the American Airlines Center, as the fathers of both men could be seen embracing in what has got to be considered a perfect prelude to Father’s Day. Caught on the sidelines, Drederick - Irving’s father - and Donic’s dad, Saša, took hold of each other as they celebrated the sensational display put on by their sons.

Of course, it would be remiss to say that despite the early Father’s Day gift, the Mavericks don’t still have their work cut out for them if they are to become the first team in NBA history to come back from a 3-0 deficit. Game 5 of the series tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET on Monday night at the TD Garden in Boston. Don’t miss it!
