76ers receive fresh injury blow as key figure doubtful
Paul George’s name appeared on the 76ers’ injury list ahead of their clash against the Nets.

Philadelphia 76ers face a worrying Friday night showdown against the Brooklyn Nets as the availability of veteran forward Paul George remains uncertain. After logging a full practice session on Thursday, George is officially listed as “questionable” due to a lingering ankle issue, with a final call on his participation expected just before tip-off.
George’s uncertain status adds to the frustration for the 76ers, who are already without key contributors Joel Embiid and VJ Edgecombe.
The fact that George participated without limitation in Thursday’s practice offers a hopeful outlook. Earlier this week, after a right ankle sprain first landed him on the injury report, he was downgraded to “out” for Tuesday’s game against Orlando, a contest he ultimately missed. His return to full practice less than 48 hours later suggests the 76ers medical staff sees him as trending toward availability.

“We’re in the process of checking to see what exactly is wrong”
Speaking to the media, Sixers coach Nick Nurse provided an update regarding George’s health: “We’re not there yet,” he said, bluntly. “I think we’re in the process of checking to see what exactly is wrong and what the extent of it is.”
Currently, George is averaging 13.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game through limited minutes. If he is unavailable, it’s likely that rotation minutes will increase for younger players like Dominick Barlow and Justin Edwards, both of whom have recently logged meaningful floor time and could step into larger roles.
However, the mood around the team is not all doom and gloom. Instead of waiting for Embiid or George to get fighting fit, the 76ers have embraced a fresh identity: one led by Maxey.
