Update:

The Minnesota Timberwolves have provided an updated health status on their All-Star guard Anthony Edwards following a physically intense Christmas Day matchup against the Denver Nuggets.

Edwards has been marked as questionable for the team’s upcoming game due to right shoulder soreness, according to the latest official injury report.

The 24-year-old got the fans on their feet in the Christmas clash, putting up a remarkable performance. However, the physical toll of that game appears to have resulted in discomfort around his shoulder, prompting the team’s medical and coaching staff to take a cautious approach ahead of the side’s upcoming critical Western Conference schedule.

The Timberwolves released their injury list ahead of Saturday night’s home game against the Brooklyn Nets, ticking Edwards’ name alongside veteran guard Mike Conley, who is also listed as questionable due to scheduled rest.

While the description of Edwards’ condition as “shoulder soreness” suggests the issue may not be severe, his availability remains in doubt. The team has yet to provide a detailed timeline, leaving fans and analysts to await a final matchday decision.

Edwards’ impact on the court this season has been undeniable. He has averaged career-high scoring numbers, keeping the Timberwolves among the top teams in the Western Conference. In the 2024-25 campaign, he averaged 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game across 79 outings, marking his third selection to the All-Star Game.

Edwards has been in the news since last week, after putting up 44 points against the Denver Nuggets before the evening took a turn in overtime. Edwards was handed two technical fouls within a span of minutes, resulting in an ejection with just over 20 seconds remaining. Their leading scorer was sent to the locker room before the final buzzer, visibly frustrated with officiating decisions throughout the game.

Rather than let the moment fade, Edwards chose to poke fun at himself. In a clip recorded with Sprite, one of his promotional partners, Edwards is seen writing lines on a blackboard reading, “I will not get t’d up”, a clear reference to his technical fouls that night.
