Update:

Anthony Edwards hosted the first Believe That Awards on his YouTube channel this week, appearing alongside longtime friend Nick Maddox to honor some of his favorites in a variety of left-field categories.

Edwards handed out awards for ‘Hater of the Year’, ‘Hidden Gem of the Year’ and ‘White Boy of the Year’, with the later prize awarded to Timothee Chalamet via video call.

He was also joined by ESPN’s NBA Insider Sham Charania, the recipient of ‘Reporter of the Year’ from the Believe That Awards. Earlier this year Charania reported the shocking Luka Doncic trade that stunned the whole NBA, the reason for his presentation as ‘Reporter of the Year.’ Speaking on a video call with Charania as part of the ceremony, Edwards joked that he wanted to know if he was ever about to be traded.

“If you know I’m finna get traded, you better motherf----g text me,” Edwards told Charania. “Don’t leak that s--t on Twitter and X man, send me a text. Let me know.”

Charania reflected on the experience of reporting that trade, revealing that Doncic was leaving the Mavericks to join up with LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. He told Edwards: “That was a wild night. These are called the Believe That Awards, well I couldn’t believe that [trade]. I thought I was being catfished, honestly. I thought my phone was being hacked, or the people who were sending me the information were being hacked.”

For now, it is very difficult to imagine any situation in which the Timberwolves would want to trade Edwards. He is about to begin the second year of his enormous five-year $245 million contract and his 27.6 points per game last season were behind only Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo in the entire league.
