2018 Draft class
Luka Doncic and Trae Young will always be tied together after being drafted in the same draft class. The Hawks took the Slovenian and traded him to the Mavs who took Young with the 5th pick. Since getting drafted, both have made the All-Star Game, both have made an All-NBA Team and both have led their teams to the Conference Finals. They are without question the most successful players of the 2018 draft class that included Deandre Ayton, Marvin Bagley III and Jaren Jackson Jr. in the top 5.
Trae Young and Dejounte Murray look to keep the train rolling in Big D, but they will have to take down Luka and the Mavs to keep climbing the Eastern Conference ladder.
As you can see, Doncic is featured in the starting line up, and there was little doubt that he would play for this big time match up against Trae Young.
Tonight's odds
Accoridng to Bet365.com, the Mavs are 2.5 point favorites over the Hawks and the Over/Under is set at 231.5.
After a rough patch on the road, I think the Mavs come in looking for blood tonight, so I'm taking the Mavs to cover.
Doncic Drama
Dallas courts have recently settled an ugly off court feud between him and his mother over ownership of his image rights. According to reports, the core of the feud lies in the trademark of her son’s name, “Luka Doncic 7,” which she herself owns. After Doncic filed a petition to cancel the trademark and subsequently failed, he then applied to file another trademark under his name with the title “Luka Doncic 77.” Unfortunately, it was also denied.

Western Conference Standings
The Mavs road trip saw them fall down the standings after losing four of their last five, but they are still fifth in the West, a game and a half above the Warriors and two games above the Jazz in 8th place.
Eastern Conference Standings
The Hawks moved to .500 with their win over the Heat last game, and look like they might be turning things around but still sit ninth in the Eastern Conference even after their recent run.
ATL is streaking
The Atlanta Hawks have been rolling since the turn of the new year and they kept of their fantastic form with an eight point victory over the Heat on Monday. Dejounte Murray came alive in the fourth quarter, scoring 12 of his 28 points to lead the Hawks over Miami. Jimmy Butler dropped 34 points against Atlanta, but his side never lead in the game that they trailed by as many as 26. Trae Young added 24 points and 8 assists as the Hawks evened their record to 22-22.
Dallas back home after road trip
The Mavs played the Trail Blazers for a second straight game on Sunday and they flat out looked warn out. On the fifth and final of their road games they gave up 140 points in Portland after losing 136-119 the night before. Mavs stud Luka Doncic was given the night off against the Blazers, and Spencer Dinwiddie’s 28 points weren’t enough to take down the boys from Rip City. The game was tight until the fourth quarter although Portland was in control for 48 minutes. Damian Lillard had 40 points and led a fourth quarter charge that buried the Mavs to serve them their four loss in five games.
