LeBron James Jr., better known as Bronny, was rushed to hospital on Monday after suffering a cardiac arrest while training with the University of Southern California. Thankfully, the eldest son of the Los Angeles Lakers star appears to be on the mend after a huge fright.

Bronny James in “stable condition”

“He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU,” reads a statement issued by the James family. “LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes.”

LeBron James Jr. expected to feature in 2024 NBA draft

In May, Bronny revealed his intention to turn down a host of other universities to play to play college basketball for USC after finishing his high school career at Sierra Canyon School. The 18-year-old, who stands at 1.91 metres tall, is expected to be a future NBA star and will be part of the 2024 draft.

ESPN’s mock draft for next year has James Jr. at number 17 in the first round, roughly the same position as those carried out by other publications.

Could LeBron and Bronny James play together in NBA?

His arrival in the NBA will undoubtedly be one of next summer’s most eye-catching headlines, especially with LeBron James Sr., now 38, having previously stated that one of his goals before retiring is to play with his son. The NBA’s all-time top scorer has signed on for two more years with the Lakers, although the 2024/25 season, in which he would earn $51.4 million, is optional. James could therefore leave his current team in the summer of 2024 and be free to link up with his firstborn as he embarks on his professional career.
