Caitlin Clark Indiana Fever jerseys sell out after number 1 WNBA Draft pick
The college basketball superstar has made a huge impact on the way people see women’s basketball, and her jersey is already one of the favourites.
Caitlin Clark is currently bathing in the spotlight of women’s sports and it’s certainly not for nothing. Just this Monday she became a professional player in the WNBA when she was selected by Indiana Fever with the number 1 pick in the 2024 Draft.
The former University of Iowa star was twice named National Player of the Year and set a record for points in college basketball in both the men’s and women’s categories by scoring a total of 3,951, more than any other basketball player in history.
Clark’s numbers generated an unprecedented phenomenon in NCAA basketball, her presence helped break television audience records: 18.9 million viewers witnessed Iowa’s final loss to South Carolina, and no one wanted to miss the 6-foot-4 guard’s performance.
Caitlin Clark jerseys sell out in an hour
Caitlin fever has triggered effects away from the court as well as on it. She is now appearing in commercials and T.V. shows, and even has her own cereal box. After her successful college career, the basketball player decided to apply for the WNBA Draft, and as expected she was selected by Indiana with the 1st pick.
Only an hour after the selection was made official, Caitlin Clark’s jersey, the number 22 for the Fever, was sold out in sizes XS, M, L, XL and XXL according to The Athletic. It remains sold-out and is only available for pre-order, confirming her impact in the basketball world.
The new Indiana player was excited about the new challenge she is about to face in the WNBA: “I’ve been working towards this since second grade,” says Caitlin Clark. “I believe in myself and my parents instilled that in me from a young age.” “[I have to] be myself and have fun and the rest will take care of itself”.
Despite the team already knowing what it’s like to be crowned champions in the WNBA (2012), they have not managed to get into the playoffs since 2016. Clark will join Aliyah Boston, pick 1 of the 2023 Draft to try to revive the franchise and turn them into main competitors of the competition.
