Another expectant packed house flocked to Gainbridge Fieldhouse to see the 22-year-old in action only to be disappointed as the Fever fell for the fourth consecutive game in the 2024 season.

There were however some green shoots and glimmers of optimism for suffering Fever fans as the margin of the defeat was only by a handful of points with the Connecticut Sun winning 84-81 and Fever teammates Mitchell and Smith helping Clark out in the scoring department.

Clark delivers brief ankle scare

There was also a brief scare for the packed house as Clark limped off the court with an apparent left ankle injury in the second quarter of Monday’s game against the visiting Sun and despite missing the rest of the quarter, she was back on the court to begin the second half.

Clark experienced tightness in the ankle during warmups but didn’t think it was serious, according to the ESPN broadcast.

The Fever outshot the Sun 47.8 percent to 40.5 percent and made 6 of 20 from 3-point range vs. 4 of 19 by the visitors but Indiana did have 17 turnovers to only eight for Connecticut.

The third quarter proved to be Indiana’s downfall with the Sun outshooting to take a commanding lead into the final quarter as pressure continues to grow on head coach Christie Sides with her team now 0-4 for the new season.

The Fever are now on the road for a trio of games as they take on Seattle Storm, LA Sparks and Chicago Sky still searching for that first season win.
