Details of Tyler Herro’s extension with the Miami Heat: Salary, years, incentives...

The Miami Heat appear to have secured the services of their star for a further four years. Good news for both the team and the player who’s become quite the hit in recent times.

What are the details of Tyler Herro’s four-year extension?

According to reports on Sunday, Tyler Herro and the Miami Heat have officially agreed on a four-year contract extension. It is understood, that the deal could be worth up to $130 million with a reported $120 million in guaranteed salary and a further $10 million in incentives. This of course, puts to rest the increasing speculation as to whether or not Miami would have entered the season without granting an extension to one of their key players. Indeed, as the reigning Kia NBA Sixth Man of the Year, Herro’s contribution during the last campaign was invaluable. With news of his extension, it would appear that the Heat have taken the necessary steps to acknowledge that fact with an impressive new contract.

What’s even more important is that Herro’s deal now means that the core of Miami’s team is tied up for years to come. With Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and Kyle Lowry already on multi-year deals, Herro putting pen to paper is most definitely good news. This is of course the same Heat team that won 53 games last season and were the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference heading into the playoffs. In the end Miami pushed eventual NBA finals the Boston Celtics to 7 games before falling in the Eastern Conference finals.

The 6th Man is staying: Tyler Herro’s extension is good news

As the first Miami Heat player to ever win the sixth man award, Herro won the voting by an overwhelming distance last season. With an average of 20.7 points per game, the Heat’s go to guy off the bench was almost four points ahead of any other reserve in the entire league. “Tyler was ignitable for this team,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said when Herro was awarded. “He was that way all season.” The former Kentucky player, who was drafted by the Heat back in 2019 as the No. 13 overall pick, will be hoping to continue where he left off when the NBA season starts in a few weeks. We’ll be waiting!
