Did Tenacious D really make a song about Giannis Antetokounmpo?
It would appear that Giannis Antetokounmpo has fans who are willing to make music about him, but can you blame them?
An NBA Finals MVP award and a championship ring to go with it is all well and good, but now the Bucks star has been immortalized in song. Does it get any better?
Tenacious D sing in tribute to Giannis Antetokounmpo
For those who were present at a recent Tenacious D concert in Milwaukee, there was a special treat in store. The band, consisting of Jack Black and fellow comedian Kage Gass surprised those in attendance with a new song about one of the city’s favorite sons, NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Clearly huge fans of the two-time NBA MVP, the band’s unexpected gesture was made all the funnier by the fact that they are staunch Los Angeles Lakers fans! “You know me and Kage, we’re Lakers for life, but there’s one player, don’t matter which team he’s on, we [expletive] love him,” Black said. “You know why? He’s incredible.”
Is Giannis Antetokounmpo worth it?
In truth, if you’re going to pick a player in the league to be a fan of, the ‘Greek Freak’ is as good a pick if not better than any. Fans will recall the manner in which he marched the Bucks to a title in 2021. His last campaign, though it didn’t end with a championship, was no less prolific with an average of 29.9 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game. On the back of his exploits, Antetokounmpo was selected to the All-NBA first team for the fourth consecutive season. If that wasn’t enough, he played in his sixth consecutive All-Star game, while also being named to the NBA’s 75th anniversary team. Of course, there’s also the fact that he’s hard not to like as a person, which may also be part of why Tenacious D made a song about him.
