Doc Rivers and Bucks part ways: What went wrong in Milwaukee

The Milwaukee Bucks are looking for a new head coach after agreeing to a change with Doc Rivers, according to multiple reports on Sunday following the end of the regular season.
Bucks part ways with Doc Rivers amid team struggles
Rivers, 64, has coached the Bucks for two and a half seasons, compiling a 97-103 record, with two first-round playoff exits and missing the postseason this season. Under Rivers, the Bucks won the NBA Cup in 2014.
Rivers still has one year left on his contract and is negotiating a transition to an advisory role with the franchise. Rivers’ contract with the Bucks is worth approximately $40 million.
“We’re all on the same page. We’ve talked about it, and we want it resolved pretty soon. I’d prefer they did it now; it’s better that way,” Rivers said after the 126-106 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, in what will likely be his final game. “Personally, I enjoyed the challenge. Obviously, it didn’t go the way I wanted. I always say I could have done a better job. We could have been healthier. We could have had a lot of things,” he added.
Rivers’ time in Milwaukee has also been marked by constant rumors about the departure of Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, especially in recent times.
Rivers won the NBA championship in 2008 as coach of the Boston Celtics, one of the five teams he has managed. Before his 25-plus-year coaching career, he played 13 seasons.
