Update:

On Wednesday night at the Chase Center, the Warriors fell 104–100 to the Houston Rockets. As the clock wound down, Curry, the backbone of a wobbly Golden State side, hobbled off the court after suffering what was confirmed as a right quadriceps contusion.

The injury unfolded late in the fourth quarter. Curry tried to take a challenge against Rockets guard Amen Thompson. A collision left him in visible pain and eventually led to him being called for a blocking foul.

Despite lingering through a few more agonising minutes, he left the game with just 35 seconds remaining. The point guard had 14 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Warriors in 33 minutes.

“We’re going to have to be damn near perfect [without Curry]”

After the match, the Warriors announced Curry would undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the damage. Coach Steve Kerr admitted that while a bruised quad is better than a knee or ankle injury, any absence of Curry is a major worry for the team. “When I heard it was a quad, I was actually relieved,” he said. “Better than an ankle or a knee. If Steph has to miss [time]? It obviously changes everything: our rotations, how we’re playing, who we are playing through. We’ll see.”

The loss and the injury come at a difficult moment for Golden State. The team is now sitting at a 10–10 record, after starting the season 4–1. In addition, some teammates, including Jimmy Butler III and Draymond Green, didn’t mince words about the squad’s defensive lapses and overall lack of cohesion: “We don’t box out,” Butler angrily puffed. “We don’t go with the scouting report. We let anybody do whatever they want - open shots, get into the paint, free throws. It’s just sad."

We’re going to have to be damn near perfect [without Curry],” he made clear. “We aren’t going to have the ultimate bailout on our team.”

Our defense is shit‚” Green added.

The next game for Golden State Warriors is against New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday 29 November 2025, at 5:30 PM Pacific Time.
