The Memphis Grizzlies are on their way to the second round of the NBA Playoffs after defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 6.

The series had a little bit of everything. Buzzer beaters. Fourth quarter comebacks. Trash talk. Game 6, like the series was a roller coaster ride until the end.

Both teams started hot from downtown as the Grizzlies and Timberwolves combined for 11 threes in the opening 12 minutes. Anthony Edwards got off to a scorching start, scoring 16 points in the first quarter but Desmond Bane kept pace with the playoff debutant. He had 13 points and three triples in the first.

Ja Morant struggled to find his scoring rhythm in the first half, but Brandon Clarke made sure to pick up the slack on the offensive end scoring 10 points in the second quarter.

Third quarter full of runs

Each team landed and absorbed blows in a first half where the largest lead was seven early in the first quarter.

Minnesota went in to the locker room up three at halftime, and would stretch the lead all the way out to 13 in the early part of the third quarter. The Grizzlies would counter with a 12-0 run abruptly after trailing by the largest margin all night. Memphis was a point down only momentarily as Jaden McDaniels, who had a career high night with 24 points, went on a 7-0 run to help extend the lead to 10 going into the fourth.

The Timberwolves went cold in the final corner, as they suffered a late collapse for a third time this series. Desmond Bane, who finished as the Grizzlies leading scorer along with Brooks, hit a three with under three minutes to go to give Memphis their first lead of the second half.

T'Wolves youth shows late

The two seeded Grizzlies would hold off Anthony Edwards and the T’Wolves as Tyus Jones came up with a back breaking three ball with under a minute to go to seal the game.

Memphis will now go on to play the third seeded Warriors in the second round of the playoffs.

"We hit a big 3 to tie the game up with 4 seconds (left). You feel good about going into overtime and having a chance to win the game. (It's) just a learning experience.
