Has Steph Curry ever missed the NBA playoffs?
The Golden State are looking to secure an NBA Play-In Tournament spot before the end of the regular season, but they will need the best Steph Curry once again.
The NBA regular season will come to an end in one month and teams are fighting to get a playoff spot. Some of them will be able to get to the postseason directly, while other teams will have to feature in the Play-In Tournament to try to get tickets to the playoffs.
The Golden State Warriors will likely be one of the sides that might have to battle it out until the end to secure a place in the Play-In event, as they are currently sitting 10th in the Western Conference.
They should be able to make it to the next round of the competition, as they have a talented squad that has won multiple Championships, but Steve Kerr’s men are struggling more than expected this season and their future this term will heavily depend, once again, on his main star, Steph Curry.
While the Californian team is expected to end up making it to the playoffs, they will need to be more solid if they want to finish the regular season ahead of the Houston Rockets and the Utah Jazz and try to overtake the Lakers in the table. They have lost four of their last six games, a record that could see them in trouble if they don’t get better results in the next month.
Has Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry ever missed the NBA playoffs?
The Warriors’ next game will be against Lebron James’ team, so it will be a great opportunity to see how Golden State manage to perform against who could be their opponents in the Play-In Tournament.
The good news for the Warriors is that Curry is expected to play again after suffering an ankle injury when playing against the Chicago Bulls on March 7. The 10-time NBA All-Star player missed the team’s subsequent three games, two of which ended in defeats.
Curry, considered not only one of the best players in the league today but also in the history of the sport, is aware that the team’s fate will rely very much on his performances and admitted on Friday he didn’t want to risk and come back earlier to avoid further issues:
“You can’t fast-forward or cheat the healing process. Some are kind of on the fence about whether you can push through it and not make it worse, just deal with the pain. I’ve been through all types of injuries and this one was one where there was a certain time frame to let my ankle heal”.
“And then have a little bit of work on the court to build back up. It’s tough to miss games, but you’ve gotta understand you can’t make things worse. Especially with what time of year we’re in right now”, he added.
While it’s difficult to imagine the playoffs with him, it’s still a real possibility if things play out differently than what the franchise expects. If that scenario ended up happening, it wouldn’t be the first time that Curry missed the postseason.
The four-time NBA champion has featured in the playoffs nine times in his career, all of them with the Golden State Warriors. That means that he has missed them on five occasions (2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2019-20, 2020-21).
Curry has averaged 27.0 points, 6.2 assists, and 5.3 rebounds in 147 games in the playoffs so far in his career, being decisive in making the Warriors one of the most successful teams in the history of the NBA, and the most successful one for over a decade.
