Update:

As the season tilts on a knife-edge, the Winds of Fate may just have blown the wrong way for the Warriors, who will now be without superstar Steph Curry for at least another three matches.

The Golden State Warriors have confirmed that the 11-time All-Star will be absent from their upcoming three-game away run after sustaining a left quadriceps contusion.

The injury occurred last Wednesday during the game against the Houston Rockets, with a subsequent MRI revealing a muscle strain that will keep his name above a bed in the injury room at Chase Center for a little while longer.

Which games will Steph Curry miss?

Reports say Curry is not yet cleared for on-court activity and will not join the Warriors on the upcoming matchups against the Philadelphia 76ers, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Chicago Bulls, meaning he will now miss at least five games.

Head coach Steve Kerr admitted in the aftermath of the scan that the entire team “breathed a sigh of relief” knowing there was no tear, which would have potentially derailed an already shaky season. The coach also confirmed that he should be back for Golden State’s home game on December 12 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Without Curry’s elite shooting and general orchestration, not to mention the psychological advantage such a player gives the team, the Warriors will have to rejig things.

Kerr will undoubtedly have to heavily rely on veterans like Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green, while younger guard rotations are likely receive extended run to steady the storm-battered ship.

However, you wait all day for a bus and two come at once: it’s not clear whether or not Butler will make the next game as the 36-year-old came into Tuesday night’s 124-112 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder questionable with a glute contusion and went on to miss the second half with a sore knee.

“I don’t know anything more,” Kerr admitted afterwards. “I didn’t even know [he was out] until I was drawing up a play with a minute to go [before the second half] and somebody came in the huddle and said Jimmy is down.”
