Is LeBron James retiring after this season?

Could LeBron James have just played his last game in the NBA in the Lakers’ 4-0 shutout series loss to the Denver Nuggets?

The internet is going wild after LeBron James made a comment in his post game press conference that led many to believe he could be following in the footsteps of his friend Carmelo Anthony and announcing his retirement soon.

Of course, as is often the case with social media, this is just assumptions. Here’s what LeBron said:

“I have a lot to think about to be honest, just for me personally going forward with the game of basketball.”

Okay, that does sound cryptic, but it doesn’t necessarily confirm he’s going to retire. He’s spent 20 years in the NBA now and to go out in the semifinals after a 4-0 shutout wouldn’t be very LeBron of him. Then again, it’s not like he needs to prove anything at this point. The message is not clear, but we’ll be on alert for any future announcements, just in case.
