Ja Morant: When will he be back? Will he play against the Lakers?

The Memphis Grizzlies star has recently been in the spotlight, but not because of his brilliant performances on the court.

The Memphis Grizzlies star has recently been in the spotlight, but not because of his brilliant performances on the court.

Ja Morant’s quality is out of the question and he has the skills to become an all-time great in the NBA, but the Memphis Grizzlies star has often been on the radar for his actions outside the court.

Controversy is now surrounding the two-time All-Star player after a video on Instagram Live showed Morant holding a weapon as he partied in a nightclub in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The video was filmed hours after the Grizzlies lost to the Nuggets 113-97, with the point guard recording 27 points and 10 assists.

The South Carolina player released a statement a few hours later apologizing for the incident.

“I take full responsibility for my actions last night. I’m sorry to my family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis, and the entire Grizzlies organization for letting you down. I’m going to take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being”, he wrote.

Will Morant play vs. the Lakers?

The NBA spokesperson Mike Bass said in another statement that the league is already working to get a clearer picture of what happened.

“We are aware of a social media post involving Ja Morant and are investigating”, he stated.

Meanwhile, the franchise has also reacted to the Morant news and announced that the player “will be away from the team for at least the next two games”, which means he will miss Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers and Tuesday’s clash vs. the Los Angeles Lakers.

Morant’s incident happened after a Washington Post story was published a few days ago detailing two incidents involving the player last summer that resulted in no arrests.

The Grizzlies are one of the best NBA teams this season so far, sitting second in the Western Conference standings (38-24), only behind the Nuggets.
