Jayson Tatum and Steph Curry offer their insight as LeBron James takes up golf
The Lakers legend has posted a series of videos of himself on the course and has admitted that he is a newcomer to the sport.
With NBA stars enjoying the summer offseason, LA Lakers star LeBron James has been hitting the headlines again but not for his action on the court but his efforts on the golf course.
During the summer months, the 40-year-old has been quite public about his new hobby posting a series of videos on his social media platforms showing his golf swing and he has also openly admitted that he’s very new to the sport and finding it challenging. He even called golf “a mind f**k to say the least.”
His early attempts have garnered reactions from other NBA players who are keen golfers with both Stephen Curry and Jayson Tatum offering advice as they welcomed him to the game.
The Warriors player (who has played golf since the age of ten) diplomatically stated: “He’s a all-time great athlete. He’s kind of a model for no matter where you’re at, you can start playing and hopefully figure it out. I hope that he shares more of his golfing journey as he goes bcz it’ll be inspiring”.
Tatum’s words of encouragement
Tatum, who is also a seasoned golfer and has hosted his own foundation’s golf tournament, had a supportive and slightly humorous take.
He said: “I’m just happy my guy’s out there. It’s been a long time coming. Part of it, you gotta get out there. You gotta fall in love with the game. We all probably looked like this when we first got out there. But you know, hopefully, you keep practicing, and he’s only up from there.”
When asked for advice for LeBron’s swing, Tatum jokingly added: “Loosen up a little bit. He gon’ figure it out.”
LeBron, golf investor
Apart from starting out in the sport, LeBron James is also an investor in PGA TOUR Enterprises through his involvement with Fenway Sports Group (FSG) and Main Street Advisors which means the 40-year-old has a financial stake in the future of professional golf.
