Update:

It emerged ahead of the Sixers’ game against the Knicks that star center Joel Embiid is being treated for a mild case of Bell’s Palsy.

The NBA insider, who works for ESPN, reported that the player has been suffering from the condition since “the play-in victory over Miami, but he wanted to keep it private to avoid distractions for his team.”

After the game, Embiid was asked about his diagnosis, to which he said “I think it started a day or two before the Miami game”.

‘I had bad migraines and thought it was nothing’

I had bad migraines and thought it was nothing”, he continued, “usually I don’t like to check it out but for some reason this time I ended up telling somebody. Yeah, before the Miami game, my body was not feeling it and obviously lately. I’m sure if you Google the symptoms, you know what it is.”

“It’s pretty annoying, you know, the left side of my face, my mouth and my eye, it’s been tough. But I’m not a quitter so I have to keep fighting, I’ll do anything. It’s unfortunate, that’s the way I look at it, but that not an excise, I have got to keep pushing.”

As for the Sixers, they currently sit 2-1 behind the Knicks after 3 games played. They were 2-0 down without Embiid until his return in Game 3, with a stunning 50 point contribution to his side’s 125-114 win at Wells Fargo Center to pull the tie around. He was out with a knee injury prior to the third game, but it seems like he has the legs of a lion, as well as the heart.

The next game in the fantastic series is on April 28 at 7pm ET / 10pm PT. You will be able to catch all the breaking news surrounding the action, as well as the fallout, here on AS USA.
