The Boston Celtics host the Bucks on Sunday after defeating Milwaukee 108-95 on the road in Game 6 on Friday. Jayson Tatum went for 46 points while Jaylen Brown erupted for 22 and Marcus Smart for 21.

The bad news for the Bucks is that there’s a high chance they go into Sunday’s Game 7 without their All-Star Khris Middleton.

“There’s pessimism” Middelton would start

Despite the hope earlier in the week that Middleton would return for the crucial game, there’s now more doubt that will happen as ESPN insider Brian Windhorst shared that “earlier this week, the folks I was talking to were giving me some optimism about Middleton playing this weekend, but that has not happened. That has not developed. And now I would say there’s pessimism about Sunday, and frankly, I have been told that even if the Bucks advance to the conference finals, there’d be pessimism he’d be ready to start,” Windhorst said.

The 30-year-old has been out since midway through Milwaukee’s first round series vs the Chicago Bulls as he suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee. Middleton has missed six games of the Bucks’ second round series against the Celtics even though he has returned to practice.
