The fifth-seeded Dallas Mavericks are in a commanding position in the best-of-seven series after going to Minneapolis and bagging wins in Games 1 and 2. Apart from hitting the headlines for helping propel the Mavericks to a NBA Championship finals, the 32-year-old is also generating notoriert for his footwear in the two games against the Timberwolves.
Following his split-up with Nike in late 2022, the Australian born player signed a deal with Chinese sport shoes brand Anta and in the Western Conference finals turned heads with the “Chief Hélà” colorway of his signature Anta KAI 1 sneaker.
The shoe features a distinctive moccasin style brown and includes a yellow sole with eye-catching fringe detailing on the back with the shoe being a tribute to his Native American heritage. Irving’s mother, Elizabeth Larson, was of Standing Rock Sioux heritage, and both his grandparents and great-grandparents were from the Standing Rock reservation in South Dakota.
Chief Hélà is also the 32-year-olds handle for his Twitter/X account.
The Anta Kai 1 ‘Chief Hélà’ is expected to get a general release later this summer and expected to carry a retail price of $125.
