Lakers, Knicks and Jazz negotiate three-way mega-trade for 2022 NBA season

The Lakers, Knicks, and Jazz may be exchanging players for next season. Russell Westbrook and Donovan Mitchell are reportedly included in talks.

Despite rumors of the movements of several stars within the league, the NBA is experiencing an unusual calm at the moment. With renowned players like Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Donovan Mitchell on the trigger, it seems that the first pieces are beginning to move.

As reported by Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Utah Jazz will be negotiating a three-way trade where the parties would be moved according to the interests of each team for next season. Russell Westbrook and the Mitchell would be included in these talks.

Westbroook to Jazz?

Westbrook would go to Utah, accompanied by several draft picks from LA and New York. The Jazz would send Mitchell to the Knicks and a combination of two players to the Lakers (these, presumably, could be Patrick Beverley, Bojan Bogdanovic, Jordan Clarkson or Malik Beasley).

This trade, with some points left to thresh out, would make sense for the three parties involved. The Lakers would trade their point guard and receive a couple of competitive pieces, the Knicks would team up Jalen Brunson and Mitchell, and Utah, in the rebuilding process, would have significant Draft picks in the coming years.

As Scotto himself mentioned in his statement, Utah intends to get more picks by Mitchell than they did in Robert Gobert’s trade to Minnesota (first four rounds).
