LeBron reacts to mass attack at Liverpool’s title celebration parade
LeBron James, Jamie Carragher and rival clubs express shock and solidarity after chaotic end to Liverpool’s Premier League celebrations.

Liverpool’s Premier League title parade on Monday descended into a tragic and deeply unsettling scene, as celebrations in the city were marred by a mass vehicular attack on fans in Merseyside. What had begun as a moment of unbridled joy for the club’s supporters ended in horror, sparking a wave of reactions – including from NBA legend LeBron James.
James, a minority stakeholder in Liverpool through his involvement with Fenway Sports Group, expressed his dismay shortly after the incident. The 40-year-old Lakers star posted on his official X account:

Footage from the scene showed a driver plowing into a crowd of Reds fans before being stopped by the surrounding public a short distance down the road.
Former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher also took to X to share his feelings, writing: “Devastating end to the day... just pray everyone is ok.”
Messages of support were quick to arrive from across the football world – including from long-time rivals. Everton posted: “Our thoughts are with all those who have been affected by this serious incident in our city.” Meanwhile, Manchester United wrote: “Our thoughts are with @LFC and the city of Liverpool after today’s awful incident.”

What was meant to be a day of unfiltered celebration turned into a scene of panic and distress. Following the trophy presentation over the weekend that crowned Liverpool champions of the 2024–25 season, thousands filled the streets on Monday to honor the players. Jürgen Klopp appeared alongside club legend Kenny Dalglish from one of the nearby buildings, a symbolic farewell in what should have been a day to remember.

Instead, the day ended in trauma. Authorities have launched a full investigation into the attack, which has drawn international attention. Merseyside Police and Liverpool FC are now working closely together to determine what happened and to ensure all affected fans receive the care and support they need.
