LeBron’s agent reveals who made the decision to draft Bronny James to the Lakers

Bronny James was selected with the 55th pick in the second round of the recent NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers.

The eldest son of LeBron James could make history this season by being the first father-son duo in NBA history, although this looks unlikely as during the Summer League he has generated some doubts regarding his performance.

Is Bronny James going to play in the G-League?

A flashpoint in this period was during the game against the Celtics, in which the MVP of the Finals, Jaylen Brown, criticised Bronny’s poor performance and said that he still lacked the level to make the cut in the NBA.

Added to that or perhaps as a result, the possibility of playing in the G-League has arisen: the South Bay Lakers have been touted as an option before Bronny makes the frankly huge jump to the Los Angeles Lakers squad. And it seems that Bronny himself would welcome the possibility: “I’m looking forward to playing basketball. It doesn’t matter what level I’m playing at,” he said recently, sparking further rumours of a switch.

James has shown a more solid participation with the Californian side over recent games, but he remains in the eye of the hurricane given the pressure that comes with wearing his surname on the back of his jersey; in addition to the criticism many believe that ‘King’ James exerted pressure on the Lakers to recruit his son.

His agent Rich Paul revealed, however, that it was in fact team owner Jeanie Buss who stood up and made the decision to draft Bronny, during an appearance on the popular ‘The Pat McAfee Show’:

“Jeanie Buss decided to make this decision and has been able to look at Bronny in all aspects, not only from a basketball perspective but also from Bronny’s character perspective. And he has everything that aligns with the Laker brand. And so, he made the decision. At the end of the day, we’re not going to spend too much time on that. Bronny has to work his way up and he will,” Paul said.
