Will Luka Doncic play for the Mavs against the Thunder in game 6? Injury update
The Slovenian has been on the injury list for some time now - will he play in game 6?
The semi-final series between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Dallas Mavericks has been a shootout that’s reached game 6, with the Mavs edging ahead after a 92-104 win at Paycom Arena on May 16.
In that game that went to the wire, Luka Doncic showed up and put in a simply stunning performance: in one of his best games of the playoffs, he got 31 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds. In the playoffs, Doncic has averaged 23.8 points, 10.6 rebounds, 8.4 assists and 1.8 steals in 41.0 minutes.
However, despite the numbers, the Slovenian has been visibly uncomfortable in a physical sense, with fans catching him grimacing in pain in between timeouts or after physical plays on the court.
TNT’s Jared Greenberg said that indeed, Doncic has been suffering from an injury that would, under normal circumstances, keep him on the sidelines. “Today, I was told if this were the regular season, he would have been shut down for a minimum of at least two weeks”.
What injury does Luka Doncic have? Will he play in game 6?
Dear reader, we are not talking about injury but injuries, with a knee sprain, an ankle sprain, a back injury, and a sore Achilles all affecting the 25-year-old.
As for the official NBA injury update, the Mavs currently have Doncic down as ‘probable’, despite listing all of a ‘knee sprain’ and ‘left ankle soreness’ as his physical problems.
Maxi Kleber is also on the injury list, with his status confirmed at the time of writing as ‘out’ with a ‘right shoulder’ injury. He joins Olivier-Maxence Prosper, who is out with an ankle sprain.
Tipoff against the Thunder is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at the American Airlines Center; currently 3-2 up in the series, the Mavs have the chance to close out the series in front of their home crowd, which will surely be a boost against an opponent who has nearly taken them all the way.
