Luka Doncic reveals LeBron’s training secrets

Luka Dončić is experiencing his first offseason outside of Dallas, Texas, as he settles into his new home in Los Angeles, California. During an appearance on the Mind the Game podcast, the Slovenian star shared that his favourite part of the move is living near the beach—though he admitted that Los Angeles traffic is the one thing he doesn’t enjoy.

The 26-year-old point guard is working to return to peak form ahead of what will be his eighth NBA season—and his first full campaign with the Los Angeles Lakers. Since arriving at Crypto.com Arena in a historic and unexpected midseason trade, Dončić has already shown flashes of the potential he and LeBron James have as a duo.

Doncic heaps praise for LeBron James

“I mean, it’s incredible,” Dončić said on Mind the Game. “Look, I’ve never played with a guy like him. Getting traded to Los Angeles was something else, but playing alongside someone like LeBron is amazing. I can learn so much from him—starting with how he prepares off the court. And obviously, everyone knows what kind of player he is.”

LeBron James, who will turn 41 in December, is heading into his 23rd NBA season and remains one of the league’s top performers. Dončić emphasized the veteran’s remarkable work ethic—both in practices and games—as a major source of inspiration. Witnessing the commitment of the future Hall of Famer is something Dončić wants to emulate in his own career.

“Well, for starters, he shows up like 10 hours before the game,” Dončić said with a laugh. “That was the first thing that got me. I arrived at the arena, and he had already finished training. I was like… what?”
