Update:

Slovenia beat Belgium at EuroBasket on Sunday, thanks to a starring performance from Luka Doncic.

Doncic, who was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this year, put up 26 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds in an 86-69 win. The 26-year-old’s triple-double was a rare feat at EuroBacket, becoming only the fourth player to hit that mark since 1995.

With Sunday’s performance Doncic also passed the 400-point mark at EuroBasket. Now 26 years and 184 days, Doncic in the youngest player to reach 400 points at EuroBasket since Tony Parker did so in 2007 (25 years and 122 days).

In both games so far, we’ve given everything, really everything," Doncic said after the game. “We’re here to represent Slovenia and fight to win, and we’ll keep fighting. I think we proved what we’re capable of. Everyone fought hard, full credit to them.”

The win was much-needed for Slovenia, who had lost each of their first two games against Poland and France. Doncic had put up 34- and 39-point performances in each of those defeats.

Next up for Slovenia, a game against Iceland on Tuesday that could be crucial for their hopes of qualifying for the knockout phase of the 24-team tournament. The next stage will be played in Riga, Latvia across September 6-14.
