Malika Andrews is the first woman to host the NBA’s Draft
Though it’s not exactly a surprise, the news that a woman will be hosting the 2022 NBA Draft in a first for the league is big news indeed.
In what is sure to be a historic move for the league, a woman will host the NBA Draft for the very first time.

Malika Andrews is the first woman to host NBA Draft
According to reports earlier this week, Malika Andrews will write her name in the history books on Thursday night, when she hosts the 2022 NBA Draft, becoming the first woman to host the league’s big event. While this is understandably a huge step for Andrews, NBA fans will remember her as the host of the NBA’s Draft Lottery back on May 17th. Indeed, the 27-year-old is no stranger to hosting duties with the league having made her NBA Draft debut in 2020 as a telecast reporter. Incidentally, it was at the NBA’s Draft lottery earlier this year where it was announced that the NBA Today host would be hosting the Draft itself when it finally rolled around.
“I am so excited to be the host of the 2022 NBA draft,” she said at the time. “It’s really kind of beyond words. We just finished the draft lottery, and I feel like that’s great training, maybe, hopefully for the draft. But, at the end of the day, I know I have a great team behind me.” Speaking of that team, Andrews will likely be supported by veteran NBA journalists such as Jay Bilas, Kendrick Perkins, Adrian Wojnarowski, Bobby Marks and Mike Schmitz when the event kicks off on Thursday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
If one person is ready for the NBA Draft it’s Malika Andrews
Apparently ready and raring to go, Andrews let fans know as recently as Wednesday night what she will be doing with her Thursday night and just how they could find her. “It’s the eve of the NBA Draft and @KendrickPerkins, @BobbyMarks42, @JayBilas, @wojespn and I are about to preview it all on ESPN2. Join us,” Andrews tweeted.
Of course if you’d like to watch the 2022 NBA Draft you can follow the first round on ESPN live and then it’s on to either ABC or ESPN for the second round. The official draft begins at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT although, as always, there will be hours of build up to enjoy ahead of it right here on AS USA. If you’re hoping to stream the action online, you’ll need to be a subscriber of DIRECTV, Sling TV, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV or fuboTV.
