Miami Heat lose All-Star player ahead of season opener
Tyler Herro will miss the start of the upcoming campaign due to injury.

The heat is being turned up in Miami, where Erik Spoelstra‘s side are set to be without Tyler Herro for the opening of the new season, after the guard suffered an injury to his left ankle that will require surgery in his foot.
Reports suggest that Herro initially felt some discomfort in his left ankle while working out during the offseason; while the medical staff opted to try to play through the pain, it never went away and eventually the only remaining option for the 25-year-old was to go under the knife.
At the time of writing, a timescale for Herro’s return has not been given, but the message appears to be that the player will not be out for the entirety of the 2025-26 campaign.

What is Tyler Herro’s record with Miami Heat?
This is a huge blow for a roster that will now be without its top scorer last season: Across 77 games, Herro managed career highs in points (23.9) and assists (5.5), while shooting a career-best 47.2% from the field.
Solid performances for the Heat earned Herro his first-ever All-Star call up, and he helped lead his side to the first round of the NBA playoffs for the second consecutive season. However, things go even deeper than that in terms of his impact on the Miami side: Herro has averaged at least 20 points and five rebounds in each of the past four seasons for the Heat — replacing him will be a huge test of both Erik Spoelstra‘s management skills and the strength of the roster that the owners have put together for the season.
According to The Miami Herald, the issue is a foot and ankle impingement, which is when soft tissue becomes pinched around a joint.
