NBA side to cut food prices to $2 for struggling families
The NBA team will have a more family-friendly food and beverage menu for the remaining games at the Footprint Center.
Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia announced new prices for food at the team’s games at the Footprint Center for the remainder of the 2024-25 NBA season. Hot dogs, bottles of water, soda, chips and popcorn will cost $2 each.
The Suns have 28 home games remaining and the new menu will begin with the Dec. 19 game against the Indiana Pacers. Ishbia explained in a post on X that the change is being made to lessen the financial impact on families who go to see the Suns.
‘There are no food options for families who don’t want to spend a lot of money'
“When I walk around the stadium concourse at games, there are no food options for families who don’t want to spend a lot of money,” Ishbia said. “That needs to change, so today we’re launching our $2 value menu for all Suns home games.”
Before the change, hot dogs were $9 each; 16-ounce bottles of water were $8.50; 16-ounce sodas were $6.50; chips were $7.00; and a bag of popcorn was $7.00.
The Ishbias are looking to invest in the Major Leagues
The Ishbia family has multiple investments and it appears their next business venture will be in Major League Baseball. According to a report from ESPN, Justin Ishbia, brother of the Suns owner, has expressed interest in purchasing the Minnesota Twins.
The head of United Wholesale Mortgage wants to buy the Twins from the Pohlad family, who bought the team for $44 million in 1984.
According to Sportico, the value of the Minnesota organisation is as high as $1.7 billion.
